OINP's Masters Graduate stream

The Master’s graduate stream allows international students residing in Ontario to apply to permanently live or work in Ontario. Under this stream, the applicant must hold a Master’s degree from an Ontario university within the last two years of completing the Masters’s Degree.

Applicants first need to submit an application through Ontario’s Expression of Interest portal and wait for an invitation before being nominated by the province. After receiving the nomination, applicants need to apply through the federal government’s portal to obtain Canadian permanent residence.

Since the entire process does not involve the submission of applications via IRCC’s Express Entry system, the applicants will not be able to take advantage of Express Entry’s average turnaround time of six months. Generally, the processing time for applications submitted via a non-Express Entry pathway is 22 months.
