For more than a century, immigration has been a means of supporting Canada’s growth. In order to manage increasing program and service delivery costs, the immigration department of Canada, i.e., IRCC, in collaboration with the government of Canada, revised application processing fees for PR applications under the economic, permit holder, family, and humanitarian classes, except caregivers.
Earlier the fees were revised by IRCC (for the first time since 2002) in 2020. It was announced at the time that fees would be increased every two years to account for inflation.
The changes made by the IRCC and the government ensure that Canada remains competitive and in line with fees charged by other immigrant-receiving countries. In most cases, Canada’s fees are significantly lower than those of countries with similar migration systems, such as Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
