Alberta Issues 442 Invitations in Latest AAIP Draws

On September 21 2023, Alberta released information regarding two (2) s held by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) on September 12th and September 14th, 2023 respectively. These draws were conducted under the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

A total of 442 skilled immigrants received invitations to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence visas. These invitations were extended to candidates who had (i) Priority sector – Tourism and hospitality occupation with Alberta job offer, (ii) Family connections and primary occupations in high demand. To qualify, candidates needed to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 383 and 301 respectively. Here are the details of each draw, including the number of invitations issued and the minimum CRS scores required:

AAIP’s Nomination Certificates Allocation Plans for 2023 and beyond

As of September 14th, 2023, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AAIP) has been authorized to issue a total of 9,750 nomination certificates for the year. These allocations are divided between two pathways: Express Entry and non-Express Entry. However, these numbers are subject to change based on application volumes and usage projections. It’s worth noting that there are expectations of an annual nomination allocation exceeding 10,000 in both 2024 and 2025. Nevertheless, these plans may be subject to sudden adjustments depending on fluctuations in applications and the utilization of nomination allocations throughout 2023.

How to Apply for Alberta Express Entry PNP Nomination

Steps to Apply for Alberta PNP and Canada PR:

  • Review Eligibility: Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Prepare Documents: Gather the required documents and create an Expression of Interest (EOI) in your active Express Entry profile.
  • Express Interest in Alberta: Indicate Alberta as your intended province and await AAIP’s Draw.
  • Receive Notification: If your profile matches Alberta’s labour market needs, you may receive a Notification of Interest (NOI).
  • Submit Application: Upon receiving the NOI, apply with the necessary documents and a $500 CAD fee.
  • Alberta Assessment: Your application undergoes a two-step review, including eligibility and background checks.
  • Nomination Approval: If approved, Alberta Immigration notifies you, adding 600 points to your CRS Score.
  • Accept Nomination: Accept the nomination within 30 days, then apply for Canada PR with the required documents and fees.
  • IRCC Evaluation: A case processing officer reviews your PR application.
  • Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR): Upon approval, you will receive a COPR.
  • Visa Stamping: Submit your passport for visa stamping.
  • Head to Canada: It’s time to begin your journey to Canada.

As of September 19, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has established the annual limits for the issuance of nomination certificates by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). In the year 2023, the AAIP is authorized to issue a total of 9,750 nomination certificates. This allocation is divided between two main pathways: Express Entry and non-Express Entry. It is important to note that these allocations are subject to potential adjustments throughout the year. Notably, there are expectations of an increase in annual nomination allocations to surpass 10,000 in both 2024 and 2025.

However, it’s crucial to be aware that these plans are subject to change without prior notice. They are contingent upon various factors, including fluctuations in application volumes and the projected utilization of nomination allocations throughout 2023.

Non-Express Entry Streams – Allocations (Total: 4,875)

  • Alberta Opportunity Stream: 4,240
  • Rural Renewal Stream: 630
  • All Entrepreneur streams: 5

Express Entry Stream and Pathways – Allocations (Total: 4,875)

  • Family Connection and Occupation in Demand: 1,219
  • Accelerated Tech Pathway: 1,219
  • Dedicated Healthcare Pathway: 1,462
  • Sector Priorities (including construction, agriculture, hospitality, and tourism): 975

The total allocation for 2023 is set at 9,750 nomination certificates. As of now, 7,752 nomination certificates have been issued in the year 2023. Please note that these figures and plans are subject to change as per the evolving needs and circumstances of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program.
