Alberta PNP invites 292 applicants in the 2 draws

On July 21, 2023, Alberta published the details of 2 draws conducted by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), conducted on July 11th, and July 13th respectively. All of the mentioned draws were part of the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

A total of 292 skilled immigrants were given the opportunity to apply for a visa for permanent residence in Canada.

The following details are provided on the draws, including the number of invitations sent out and the required minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores:

Draw 2:

  • Date of Draw: July 13, 2023
  • Criteria: Family connection and primary occupation in demand
  • Invitations Issued: 142
  • CRS score range: 300-500
  • Minimum CRS Score: 302

Draw 1:

  • Date of Draw: July 11, 2023
  • Criteria: Priority sector – Tourism and hospitality occupation with Alberta job offer
  • Invitations Issued: 150
  • CRS score range: 300-500
  • Minimum CRS Score: 435

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), previously known as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program, offers an invitation to immigrants who possess the necessary qualifications and work experience to settle in Alberta, Canada.

For skilled workers, there are specific streams available:

  • Alberta Opportunity Stream: This stream is open to qualified individuals who are already employed in Alberta and foreign graduates who have completed their studies at a recognized post-secondary institution in the province. The AAIP actively encourages student applicants who can demonstrate that their training and employment skills align with the current labor market demands in Alberta to apply for this stream.
  • Alberta General Express Entry Stream: Candidates enrolled in the Express Entry program with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 300 can opt to apply through this stream.

However, their occupation must align with Alberta’s economic diversification and growth priorities. If Alberta recommends the candidate, an additional 600 CRS points will be awarded, significantly increasing their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

How to Apply for Alberta Province Nominee Program?

To apply for the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), applicants must first determine which stream suits their specific circumstances based on the eligibility criteria. For those eligible for the federal Express Entry program, they can also be considered for enhanced streams.

If the Alberta government expresses interest in their profile, applicants need to respond to the Notification of Interest and submit an application through the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) website.

The two improved streams in Alberta are the Alberta Express Entry stream and the Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway. Other streams fall under the base streams category. To apply through these base streams, candidates must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via the AAIP portal and are not selected through the Express Entry system.

When is the next Alberta PNP DRAW predicted?

Regarding the timing of the next draw for Alberta PNP, it is challenging to predict the precise date as the province conducts periodic draws throughout the year. The frequency and scale of these draws depend on factors such as labor market demands and other variables. As of now, the specific date of the upcoming Alberta PNP draws in 2023 remains unknown.
