BC PNP invites 185 applicants in latest PNP draw

On November 28, 2023, the Canadian immigration authorities conducted a draw for various streams under the Express Entry system. The draw encompassed General (including tech occupations) and targeted occupation. The objective of these draws was to extend invitations to prospective immigrants, with a specific focus on individuals in the technology sector, healthcare field, construction, and education-related roles, encouraging them to apply for Canada PR in British Columbia.

A total of 185 invitations were granted to skilled workers for permanent residency applications, signifying a significant addition of the construction occupation to this draw, a first-time occurrence. The draws set distinct parameters, outlining the allocated number of invitations and the minimum required scores for each category.

To be eligible for the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), candidates must satisfy the following criteria:

• Job Offer: Obtain a full-time job offer in British Columbia within skilled occupations (NOC levels 0, 1, 2, or 3), excluding temporary or time-limited positions.
• Qualifications: Possess the necessary qualifications for the job and demonstrate the capability to fulfill its responsibilities effectively.
• Work Experience: Accumulate a minimum of two years of full-time work experience in any skilled occupation (NOC levels 0, 1, 2, or 3).
• Financial Support: Provide evidence of the ability to financially support oneself and dependents.
• Immigration Status: Either possess legal immigration status in Canada or be eligible for it.
• Language Requirements: For jobs falling under NOC levels 2 or 3, meet the specified language requirements.
• Wage Rates:  Receive compensation in alignment with the wage rates for the respective occupation in British Columbia. Notably, job offers in the tech field or under NOC 41200 (university professors and lecturers) may not necessarily have to be permanent.

Application Process for BC PNP Draw:

• Category Selection: Identify the appropriate immigration category based on your situation. Register online to receive a registration score reflecting your qualifications.
• Weekly Draws: The BC PNP conducts weekly draws, selecting candidates with high registration scores, considering program capacity.
• Application Submission: Upon receiving an invitation, submit your application online within 30 days. As of August 1, 2023, the application fee is 1475 CAD.
• Expedited Processing: Benefit from expedited processing to ensure a swift assessment of your eligibility.
• Nomination and Permanent Residency: Successfully nominated candidates proceed to apply for Canadian permanent residency through federal immigration channels.
• Work Permit Support Letter: Nominees meeting the criteria receive a work permit support letter, aiding in work permit application or renewal while the permanent residence application is in process.
