On February 4, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted its latest Express Entry draw, focusing exclusively on candidates nominated by the Canadian Provinces under the Provincial Nominee Program. Invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residence were issued to candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 802 or higher.
The highlights of the draw are as follows:
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is an immigration pathway that allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals for permanent residence based on their skills, work experience, and ability to contribute to the local economy.
Eligibility for the PNP varies by province, but generally, applicants must have a job offer in the province, relevant work experience, language proficiency, and an intention to settle in that province.
To apply for the PNP, you must first choose a province, apply through their nomination process, and if nominated, submit a permanent residence application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Some provinces have PNP streams that do not require a job offer, such as Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities Stream and Saskatchewan’s Express Entry Stream. These are typically based on work experience, education, and language skills.
Processing times vary by province and the federal government. Generally, provincial nomination takes a few months, and after nomination, permanent residence processing by IRCC can take up to 12–18 months.
