On August 3, 2023, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted a draw inviting immigrants through the Ontario Express Entry’s Skilled Trade Stream. What are the Minimum Eligibility Requirements for Ontario Express Entry’s Skilled Trade Stream?
To be eligible for the Skilled Trade Stream of Ontario’s Provincial Nominee Program (OINP), you must meet the following requirements:
Work Experience: Have at least one year of cumulative paid full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time work) in specific eligible occupations within the last two years, obtained in Ontario while maintaining legal status in Canada.
Valid Certificate or License (if applicable): If claiming work experience in a compulsory trade, you must have a valid certificate or license in Ontario at the time of application.
Current Residence in Ontario and Legal Status in Canada: You must be living in Ontario and hold a valid work permit at the time of application. If your work permit has expired, you may still apply if you have a pending application for renewal.
Language: Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French at a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 5 or higher by taking an approved language test.
Settlement Funds: Have enough funds to support yourself and your dependent family members when you settle in Canada.
Intention to Live in Ontario: Show your intention to live in Ontario after being granted permanent residence.

How to Apply for Ontario Express Entry’s Skilled Trade Stream?
Here are the steps to apply for the Skilled Trade Stream of Express Entry:
Step 1: Confirm your eligibility for Express Entry.
Step 2: Build a profile in IRCC’s Express Entry System.
Step 3: If you receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) through Express Entry’s Skilled Trade Stream, submit your application within 45 calendar days from the date of receiving the NOI.
Step 4: Pay the application fee of $1500 while submitting your application
