Canada’s Vision for 2021-2023

Canada’s Vision for 2021-2023

“Immigration is essential to getting us through the pandemic but also to our short-term economic recovery and our long-term economic growth. Canadians have seen how newcomers are playing an outsized role in our hospitals and care homes and helping us to keep food on our table. As we look to recovery, newcomers create jobs not just by giving our business the skills it needs to thrive, but also by starting businesses themselves….”

~Marco E. L. Mendicino (Canadian minister of immigration, refugees, and citizenship).

Taking into dire consideration, the words of the Canadian minister of immigration, the importance of immigrants into the industrialized countries of the western world cannot be overstated. Odd jobs that are usually kept out of the mainstream view of the public, such as sanitary work or working for healthcare are taken up by individuals who migrate to countries as such jobs are what’s generally offered to individuals who require work. These odd jobs create the backbone of any smooth functioning economy. The imposition of the worldwide lockdown slowed down the flux of migrants into other countries as a result of which, the silent fruits of their labor have become ever so clear.

With the proper understanding of how important immigrants are to the smooth functioning of a country, The Canadian government has tabled the 2021-2023 Immigration levels plan. This piece of documentation aims to responsibly increase the flow of immigrants inside Canada to try to recover the Canadian economy from the brink of collapse.

Immigration Plan for 2021-2023. As per the new immigration plan, Canada is aiming to welcome:

  • a. 2021: 401,000 new permanent residents
  • b. 2022: 411,000 new permanent residents, and

Canada has the realization that the inner workings of the country are based on the labor of the hard-working immigrants that come into the country in search of work. Thus, the Canadian government has planned on increasing the populations of their immigrant workforce by 1% of the total population of the country each year to maintain the steady flow of workers that Canada would need to retain itself in the global forefront of the global market.
