The South Australian Government has released its 2023-24 Skilled Occupation List to attract skilled workers and boost its economy. South Australia, known for its natural beauty and lively cities, is an appealing destination for international graduates and experienced workers.
This year, South Australia has introduced a Registration of Interest (ROI) system to manage the growing interest from potential applicants and ensure a fair allocation of nomination spots. Please find below the key points of South Australia’s latest Skilled Occupation List and how it can help skilled professionals like you.
A significant change in the 2023-24 Skilled Occupation List is the adoption of the Registration of Interest (ROI) process. Instead of directly applying for state nomination, applicants now need to submit an ROI and wait for an invitation from South Australia. This new approach aims to make the nomination process more organized and fair for everyone.
South Australia is eager to keep international graduates and temporary visa holders who have already contributed to the state. These individuals get first dibs through the invitation process. South Australia also values experienced workers in sectors like Trades and Construction, Defence, Health, Education, Natural and Physical Science, and Social and Welfare Professions. They receive special invitations to apply for South Australian nomination.
South Australia is actively seeking highly skilled overseas workers who can make a significant impact on the state’s growing industries and national projects. This includes people with experience in the defence industry and those with specialized skills in digital and critical technologies. These professionals play a crucial role in advancing South Australia’s capabilities and innovation.
For international graduates and temporary visa holders, South Australia maintains a broad list of occupations, just like in previous years. There are over 290 different occupations available to offshore skilled workers. This ensures that South Australia welcomes a diverse range of skills and expertise into the state.
It’s important to note that South Australia is not currently accepting applications for state nomination for the Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188). However, if you already hold a provisional visa (subclass 188), you can apply for nomination for the extension stream or permanent visa (subclass 888) in 2023-24. These categories are not subject to a nomination cap.
