Express Entry latest draw invites 4300 candidates in a non-specified draw

On August 15, at 14:23:51 UTC, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted the 262nd Canada Express Entry draw. This event invited immigrants to apply for a Canadian PR visa through the Express Entry system. Notably, this draw was not limited to a specific immigration program.

In the recent draw (#262), a total of 4,300 skilled applicants were selected from the pool of individuals with active Express Entry profiles. These candidates were nominated under any of the three Canada Express Entry categories:

As of August 15th, 2023, IRCC reported that 211,356 immigrants had successfully submitted their profiles. The selection was determined by the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, with the highest number of immigrants (55,924 individuals) having a CRS score ranging from 451 to 500. Additionally, 2,172 immigrants had a CRS score between 501 and 600, while 984 applicants possessed a CRS score between 601 and 1200.

It’s important to know the following details, including how many invites were sent out and what the Comprehensive Ranking System’s (CRS) minimum score is:

  • Category: No program specific
  • Total number of invitations sent: 4300
  • Date of Draw: 15th August, 2023, 14:023:51 UTC
  • Minimum CRS Score: 496

How to apply for Canada Express entry?

The Express Entry system is a Canadian immigration management system that manages applications for three major economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Here are the general criteria and steps for the Express Entry system:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): Applicants must have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time work experience in a skilled occupation (National Occupational Classification – NOC skill level 0, A, or B) within the last ten years. They must also meet minimum language requirements and have enough funds to settle in Canada.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): Applicants must have at least two years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the last five years. They must also have a valid job offer or certificate of qualification in that trade issued by a Canadian authority.
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC): Applicants must have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years, and they must meet the language requirements for their job.

Language Proficiency:

  • Applicants must take a language test (English or French) approved by IRCC to prove their language proficiency. The test results are used to calculate the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

Education:

  • Applicants must have their foreign education credentials assessed and provide an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report if they are applying under the FSWP.

Express Entry Profile:

  • Eligible candidates create an online Express Entry profile, providing information about their work experience, education, language proficiency, and other relevant details.

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score:

  • Each candidate is assigned a CRS score based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and more.

Invitation to Apply (ITA):

  • Periodically, IRCC conducts Express Entry draws and issues Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates with the highest CRS scores in the pool. Candidates who receive an ITA have the opportunity to apply for permanent residency.

Permanent Residency Application

  • Applicants who receive an ITA have 60 days to submit their application for permanent residency. They need to provide all necessary documents and pay the required fees at this stage.

Medical and Security Checks:

  • Applicants and their family members must undergo medical examinations and security background checks as part of the application process.

Final Decision and Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR):

  • If the application is approved, applicants receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and must enter Canada before the expiration date on the COPR.
